Yogi in the Community: Anthony Espanet

It is hard to believe that we have had about 6 month hiatus from our very special Yogi in the Community spotlight. I can’t think of a better time than Spring to kick off our series with some new energy from yogi- Classic Tone. I invite you to take some time today to learn about the ways in which every day people use yoga and meditation as a tool for transformation. Thank you for your support and community and Happy Spring!

Name: Anthony Espanet (aka Classic Tone)

Location: Where The Most Service Is Needed

Hometown: Long Island, New York

What led you to the practice of yoga?

In 2012 I had lost everything that meant anything to me. I was in a nine year relationship that had ended. I was let go from my full time job and evicted from apartment within a three month span. After I volunteered a yoga event for Love Grace Foods with 200 yoga practitioners. classictone_arielSeeing all of these beautiful people in one space, I was inspired and knew if I were to ever attract the highest quality woman into my life again I would have to become the complimentary. The next day I began a three month yoga program with Mary Grace of Yoga Oasis and the start of my self transformation path.
Can you talk a little about the work you do? The art you create and how your yoga practice inspires your art?
My art is rooted in custom chakra healing Jewlery amongst all forms of artistic expression. In the process I conduct a reading with each client to identity blockages and openings in about a 30 minute conversation.classic tone jewelery From the information provided utilizing the Chakra system and gemstones that reflect individual energy I am able to design their custom piece, provide practical solutions to clarity, and growth. Karma and Bhakti to me are the most key of the eight limbs of Yoga and the motivating force within my art. It is in the act of service to others that brings me most joy.
I notice that you are a part of a strong community of men who practice yoga. Can you talk a little bit about how your community is sustained? For example, do you practice regularly with others?
I have always envisioned a movement that brings health and spirit to the masses to eradicate unnecessary suffering around the world. Recently it has begun to take form, bridging together Stic of Dead Prez and Mike ” Rockin Mike” Wall of Rockin Wellness together. Through music and health we are gaining momentum as more great like minds are becoming involved working on many projects simultaneously. classic tone headstandThese are the two most authentic men I’ve come across in my life. As apart of my devotion to the most high, I provide service to their well being which in turns directly impacts the best interest of humanity. We are always traveling, educating, and promoting so wherever we are I remain in diligent practice with our friends all over.
Can you talk a little bit about how yoga influences your perspective and outlook? How does your practice influence your choices?
Equal to my yoga practice I am also a formal Zen Buddhist and reiki practitioner and all of my teachers happen to be women. Since a child I have had a deep compassion to all women which has translated in full commitment to service of the divine feminine. The combination of these keep me grounded on a path of self mastery, discovery, and determination to serve others. Every day provides a new breath to improve, become more authentic, and grow in understanding. classic tone zenMy greatest gift is through my practices is the ability identify the void in ones life and discover practical results to eradicate it, cultivating authentic joy.
